30. In the World
Amicitia was a realm where gods resided.
They’d live as they pleased while managing and observing the countless worlds.
Among them, was a certain God of Destruction, Lideal.
He was a very dangerous fellow.
Despite what his appearance might suggest, he was an incorrigible being.
Barbaric. Capricious. Lunatic.
On one side, he had bestowed cheat skills upon humans, rendering them invincible, assisting in their revenge, and even providing nourishment to starving children. On the other hand, he wouldn’t hesitate to eradicate the entire world out of anger. As a result, righteous gods often challenged him to a duel, a proposition that he always accepted with open arms.
—Aside from that, recently, creating and playing games set in the world of Terra has become a favorite pastime among gods.
They called it RRPG (Reincarnated Role-Playing Game), where they could either become a weak adventurer and struggle, reign as a god, or experience a fleeting life as a mob. A game with a high degree of freedom where one could do anything.
One day, the God of Destruction, Lideal, challenged the Lord of God, Omnis.
“I feel like I’m going to die from sheer boredom. Why don’t we fight each other to death?”
The only person who could fight on an equal footing against Lideal was Omnis, a hard worker.
However, Omnis was too exhausted from his daily routine.
“I refuse. No matter how many lives I have, I won’t waste them just to kill time. If you want something entertaining, try playing the RRPG. It’s a nice opportunity because a certain new goddess is trying her hand at making one. If you become the demon king, you can fight to death against the saints and heroes. Because of how overpowered they are, you’ll probably lose anyway.”
“I see. That’s interesting. If I fight anyone other than you, it’ll be a short fight, which is boring. Maybe I’ll enjoy it if I have such a handicap.”
Lideal laughed innocently.

Goddess Ileana, who was entrusted with such an important role, found herself struggling at world-building. If it was any other games, then all she had to do was install the data on the Hyperdimensional Game PlayStation (created by a god who knew a lot about game mechanics), but for RRPGs, the vision of the world was the key to capturing the soul. To do so, a core person that was an avid player of games and longed to join the game world was needed. Thus, Ileana looked all over the world for one.
Although there were a certain number of people who were into games, only a measly few of them were interested in hers. As a result of Ileana’s frantic search, the person she chose was Mobuta Mob, a human from the other world Terra.
The moment he was summoned, Mobuta smiled triumphantly.
“I know it! I’m special!”
He looked down on Ileana, and it became unclear which one was the god.
Ileana was on her knees, begging.
“I want to create a game world, so please lend me your help! I want to recreate the game you’ve been playing, ‘The Saint of Alphala’!”
Upon hearing that, Mobuta sneered at her, “Piece of cheese. I’ve even completed the hidden route. Anyway, the goddess in that game, Leticia, is an all-knowing, omnipotent beauty with big breasts, unlike you!”
If it had been a veteran god, he’d have reduced Mobuta into a crying mess long ago. Unfortunately, there was no way Ileana, a newbie, could pull off such a trick. Ileana began to prepare, feeling unsure of herself.
She was nervous, “Ugh… I wonder if I’m really capable…” Even more so when Omnis handed her a certain dark soul, telling her to use that as a base for the demon king.
After all, despite being a game, the RRPG world was essentially a living thing. Although it was programmed to expel foreign objects, if something went wrong, it would transform into a giant monster and go on a rampage.
The memory of some god destroying another god’s sanctuary in the past was resurrected vividly in Ileana’s mind.
Ileana shuddered as she created her world.
[Do you want to start the game with this setting?]
While listening to the inorganic sound of the Hyperdimensional Game PlayStation, Ileana somberly pressed on the button.
After finishing all the steps, Ileana sighed in relief, only to notice that something was off with the Crown Prince of that game.
“Huh…? Why is the Crown Prince floating in the air… *Gasp* Oh nooooooooo! I accidentally inserted the soul of the Demon King into the Crown Prince! At this rate, this world will turn into a monster… Not only that, the soul of the Demon King belongs to an actual god! Something tells me he won’t be satisfied with just destroying a single sanctuary! Hyiii…!!”
Ileana fainted and collapsed on the spot.
Although she woke up a few days later (in the realm of gods), she spent every waking moment in fear.
“If I don’t do something about it, the world will be destroyed… No, I’m more scared of receiving a complaint from God Lideal…”
Unexpectedly, the world seemed to be doing just fine.
Ileana was confused and observed the situation. Although the villainess somehow became a saint, the world was still moving in a positive direction, without any signs of going awry.
In the blink of an eye, the game reached its final stage, and despite the mistaken identity of the villainess, the ending was perfect.
“Wow… True Ending… Amazing.”
A black haze suddenly appeared in front of the stunned Ileana. He was God Lideal—also known as Lydian in the game. The name was so similar, no wonder Ileana got it wrong.
Aside from that, the system made it so that gods who’d cleared the game were expelled from the world. God Lideal was no exception. After completing the game, he was returned to Amicitia.
“Huh? This place is… I see. Was that a game?”
Maybe because he suddenly emerged from darkness to a bright place, he couldn’t shed off the feeling of living as a crown prince right away.
Lideal laughed self-deprecatingly, feeling bleak.
However, Ileana took it as a sign of frustration and apologized fervently.
“My humblest apologies! I accidentally put you in the role of the Crown Prince instead of the Demon King…!!! I’m sorry, I’m sorry!!”
As Ileana tearfully apologized, Lideal shook his head.
“You don’t need to apologize.”
“Eh?”
Ileana widened her eyes.
“—Instead, return me to that world. You can do that, right?”
Hearing the impatience in his tone, Ileana tilted her head in confusion.
“I can, but once you become a game character, there’s no going back!? You won’t be able to save, either! You’ll have to spend the remainder of your life as a resident of that world! Even if you reach your full life, you won’t return to Amicitia, but instead be incorporated into the cycle of reincarnation of that world!”
Ileana scolded Lideal with an apprehensive look on her face.
In actuality, such a request wasn’t unheard of. She often encountered it during her time as an apprentice goddess. Many gods wished to remain in the game world, only to beg to return after some time had passed.
However, even after being warned by Ileana, Lideal didn’t change his mind.
“I won’t regret it.”
Lideal’s straightforwardness caught Ileana by surprise. His voice was so heartbreaking, it almost made her heart flutter.
“A-all right, then!!”
“Thank you.”
Lideal smiled and closed his eyes.
Ileana turned on the Hyperdimensional Game PlayStation and pressed the button.
At that moment, Lideal was enveloped in light and vanished without a trace.
“Did I do the right thing…?”
Muttering so, Ileana crumpled on the floor.
After all, Lideal would continue to live in that game forever.
“I mean, what if God Lideal went berserk…!?”
Ileana screamed and collapsed, thinking that she should’ve asked Omnis first.
