I Was Reincarnated as a Villainess, but My Fiancé (Main Hero) is Taking Care of Me?! [Chapter Two]

Chapter Two: The Shocking Second Meeting with My Fiancé

“Euphemia-jyou, thank you for coming today.”

A few days had passed and I found myself facing Reginald-sama in the royal palace’s courtyard. He still had that handsome face that made women fall for him left and right. His light brown hair is a little unkempt today, but I don’t think it’s bedhead. After all, he’s different from me.

Handsomeness sure is scary, even messy hair looks attractive on him.

I’m wearing a light blue dress gifted to me by my parents. They’d had it made at record breaking pace after hearing that I was invited by Reginald-sama. Though the fluffy dress might have been a little childish, it made Euphemia look nice. As expected of a beautiful girl.

“No, Reginald-sama. I was deeply thankful for your invitation.” I say this, curtseying beautifully.

Aristocratic manners had been drilled into Euphemia and so I moved perfectly. I couldn’t afford to bring shame as the daughter of the Aiden family nor as the future queen. Though House Aiden is technically a marquessate, they wield more power than some dukes in the kingdom. It is said that a couple of generations ago, our worth was demonstrated by the then-head serving as Chancellor, but I wasn’t aware of the details.

Fufu, you don’t have to be so polite. I’ve prepared a lot of sweets for you today. There are baked goods and eastern sweets, among others. Various desserts have been prepared so let’s chat while eating.” Reginald-sama said as he reached out to me.

…This means he’s going to escort me. I know that much even if I was called an eccentric (even before my memories returned).

I put my hand in Reginald-sama’s. The maids around us sighed in admiration. Yeah, but Euphemia just ‘looks’ the part. They can only see a beautiful couple. Euphemia’s eccentricity is well known in social circles, but it doesn’t seem to have reached the servants yet.

As expected of the main capture target of an otome game, his escorting is perfect.

I walked with Reginald-sama, while thinking this. He matched my pace, even though I was wearing heels and therefore walking quite slowly. People who can casually do something like this are definitely popular. It was the same in my previous life, now that I think about it.

“Euphemia-jyou, after you.”

We had already arrived at the table by the time I snapped out of my thoughts. It was located at the outer edge of the courtyard and lined with numerous beautiful sweets. Artistically delicious-looking eastern sweets, brightly colored baked confectionaries, and – or so it seemed like – various types of teas decorated the table.

Gulp.

I couldn’t help but gulp when I saw the spread. It all looked so delicious. The cakes have been cut into small pieces so one could enjoy a variety of flavors. Further, there were other baked goods like cookies, madeleines, and financiers to complement the lineup. The table’s contents were simply decorated, but extremely charming.

“Is it really okay to eat all this…?” I asked Reginald-sama.

He just smiled and nodded.

A valet pulled out a chair for me and I sat down, while Reginald-sama sat at the opposite end, facing me. Then, I reached for a financier. Financiers are among my top five favorite sweets. Their fragrant scene and crisp texture always get to me. I put a bite-sized financier in my mouth using a fork and at that moment the delicious scent of almonds spread throughout my mouth.

…Delicious and wonderful.

“…Delicious,” I said, without knowing who the words were intended for. I didn’t pause to think about it, grabbing another financier. I chewed several times before swallowing. It tastes just as good as in my previous life. Nice, this is the best.

“…I’m glad it’s to your liking.” Reginald-sama stared at me gently with a soft smile.

…Um, isn’t there something wrong with that gaze? I mean, why do you look so full of charity and tenderness?

“Um, about this, Reginald-sama—”

I put my fork down to speak to him, but he immediately said, “Please don’t hesitate.” Was that how my behavior was being interpreted? No, I mean, I’m not hesitating at all though…?

“You’re very cute when eating…it’s to my taste.”

Huh? Um, I felt like I’d heard something extremely strange.

“Um, Reginald-sama, what do you—” I asked directly, frankly a little terrified.

Then, Reginald-sama smiled as beautifully as I’d ever seen him and said something outrageous. “You see, I love taking care of people…and you especially are really like a little animal that makes me want to cherish you.”

    1. …i didn’t read the tags. oh no, i forgot to read the tags. i thought this was gonna be a fluffy story, a sweet romance. boy, oh boy, i was gonna run in and break my neck from the whiplash. i’m still curious though about the otoge plot.

      1. Another villainess-like heroine bites the dust (`▽´) Though like, the real villain here is definitely this creepy Prince.
