Chapter Twenty-Four: The Otome Game’s Footsteps can be Heard (Part I)
“Prince Reinhardt had asked that you wear this today.”
“Eh…”
I widened my eyes in shock at what Ella had given me.
How, how can such a thing be…
I was afraid I was only being deceived.
With everything that’d happened, I knew I’d be forgiven for doubting the current situation.
Because before me was a dress, one that I hadn’t seen in a long time…
A prank?
Was this a prank?
Ah!
A trap!?
Was this a trap?
Was I really allowed to wear it?
Won’t it just disintegrate if I tried to wear it—?
“Annelier-sama.”
Ella stared at me the whole time as I looked at the dress with apprehension.
As my head maid, she often refrained from asking about personal matters. She needn’t ask me the reason that caused my trepidation.
Instead, she can accurately guess and give the correct information I’d need without having to ask.
“There are guests coming today, so please get ready and wear this dress.”
“Guests…!”
However, what should I do? It’s the first time I’m receiving someone ever since I woke up in this body and world.
No, shouldn’t I stick to the fact that it’s already been two years since I’ve been living in Annelier’s body, yet it’s the first time guests were coming for me?
I should calm down and think clearly.
What kind of guests would come to visit a person who’s almost confined, living the shut-in life, where there’s practically no room to get to know anyone?
Who was the person whom Reinhardt-sama, who forbade me to go out of the room, permitted to visit?
…
……
………I don’t have a clue.
“… Who’s coming?”
“I heard that he was the former teacher of both His Highness Reinhardt and Lady Annelier.”
“A former teacher common to us both…”
A former mutual teacher?
Common to us both… A teacher?
“A former teacher!?”
The only person I could think that matched such a description was the tentacle elf professor!
No, no, no, wait.
There was more than one teacher in the academy.
Just because I didn’t know anyone else, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the tentacle-giving elf teacher…
“Yes, I heard that he taught magic.”
…It’s the tentacle elf professor…
I wore a dress for the first time in a long time and got dressed appropriately, but I couldn’t help but feel fidgety for reasons I can’t explain.
Maybe it’s because the situation of me being naked had continued for too long that I now wasn’t used to it.
More than that, I can’t remember how I greeted him nor the other things I was taught in training before my clothes were taken away.
“Are you ready?”
“Reinhardt-sama…”
Before noon came, Reinhardt-sama had already arrived.
Usually, Reinhardt-sama never came to my room in the daytime, so it seemed as though guests were really coming.
When I thought so, my fidgeting became so intense that I didn’t know what to do.
“That… I don’t remember anything about the days at the academy…”
“Ah, I’m aware that you’ve no memory of it, so don’t worry. He’s not someone fussy about etiquette.”
Even if the problem with my etiquette and memory’s solved, why would the tentacle elf… No, Lucian-sensei should’ve also been a capture target.
Why now? Why was Lucian-sensei visiting me now?
“The professor, what is the professor doing here…?”
Just when Reinhardt-sama was about to speak… “Hey, are you still—?”
I heard a child’s voice, or at least a boy’s voice, before going through puberty, making me look involuntarily back at the door.
From the half-open door, a boy with glittering turquoise blue or light blue-green hair was peeking through…
The typical hair colors in this world were not any anime-looking colorful ones.
Generally, it’s almost the same colors as those from my original world.
Looking at the maids, I could surmise that most of the hair colors in this world ranged from blonde to brown.
And to this day, as far as I can tell, there wasn’t much difference in hair colors between the characters in the otome game and their counterparts in this world.
Annelier’s hair was silver, while Reinhardt-sama’s was a dark honey-like gold hue.
It’s been over a year and a half now, but the only capture target I’ve seen that had dark hair was Prince Barnabas.
Nevertheless, there were also some other characters with anime-like hair colors in the game.
One was the heroine with dark pink hair, but I heard that this was also the case with the Mia of this world.
Though in reality, it wasn’t as pink as it was behind the game screen.
Her hair was more strawberry blonde in comparison.
Reddish blonde hair was rare here, but there seemed to be no shortage of other colors.
The rest were out of the box and character.
The other one with anime-colored hair was Lucian-sensei, the tentacle elf.
He had green hair.
The last one’s the third in the three particular taste-targeting routes.
However, given the fate of the R18 prohibition game…
I heard that the last was kind of twisted, and even the people who were originally of that disposition had mixed opinions about it.
SM, tentacles, and finally… The Wind Spirit Vint.
Bright turquoise blue hair like the sea and the skies of the southern islands…
“Gōhō shota…!“
