Chapter Twenty-Six: The Otome Game’s Footsteps can be Heard (Part III)
I… No, it couldn’t be me; it’s probably because of Annelier.
Inheritance through blood, that’s genetics, right?
I’m aware it’s a little different from the genetics from my original world because here, it’s usually with divine spirits and beasts, while back there, it’s something passed down from parents.
Does that mean Annelier had some kind of blessing and that it had been passed down to Wernhardt?
A blessing given by Annelier…?
Annelier’s blessing!?
My heart began to race in another sense.
There were two remarkable things about Annelier as far as I can remember.
Her extreme sturdiness and extreme lewdness…
Which is it!?
Which blessing is it!?
Which one was taken over by Wernhardt!?
Please, I’m feeling so anxious about my son’s possible future… Please don’t let it be my lewdness—!
“Reinhardt-sama…!”
“What is it?”
“Do you know what kind of blessing it is that Wernhardt had inherited…?”
“That? I do.”
You know!?
I choked, trying to swallow the lump in my throat.
“Wha… What exactly is it?”
Was it sturdiness?
Lewdness…?
“Ah, originally, it’s supposedly yours.”
No, I’m aware that I have two.
That, well, it’s important to me to know which one it was…
“Apparently, his physical examination and recovery were out of the ordinary.”
He’s… He’s sturdier than expected… I’m glad…
“… I’m glad… I’m glad it wasn’t my lewdness that was passed over…”
“…”
Ah.
This isn’t good.
Reinhardt-sama was giving me a look of disgust.
“I wish it was sturdy… It’s good to be sturdy, isn’t it?
Reinhardt-sama smoothed over his facial expression in a hurry before glancing at Vint.
Hu… Huh?
What’s with that look?
Although he was sturdy, there seemed to be something wrong still.
“As a part of the Royal Family, being hard to kill isn’t a bad quality to have. However, due to the blessing’s nature, although he won’t live as prolonged as long-lived species, he’ll have a longer lifespan than ordinary people. That’s because the power of the blessing at work revolves around his physical resilience and recovery. It’s not enough to hinder the baby’s growth as of now, but over time, the effects would be more noticeable.”
Thereafter, Reinhardt-sama raised his hand and waved.
On cue, the maids left the room quickly.
When the door was closed, the only ones left in the room were me, Reinhardt-sama, and Vint.
“I don’t think this is a big problem, but it’s still necessary to look into the causal relationship and clarify all that we need to know. Vint advised that if the blessing was so strong that it made his lifespan unusually long, then it could be seen as some sort of curse that could cause the person himself misery if he had no prior knowledge of it.”
If one lives too long, they’ll eventually lose all the people around them, causing immense pain… But was he really that sturdy?
I mean, wouldn’t that be beyond just being sturdy?
“There are many things that go along with being able to live for a long time. Likewise, since that child will eventually become the king, he may become distorted due to being able to reign the throne for a very long time. If his life would end up being longer and thereby more painful, I’d hope he’d be allowed to renounce the throne after a reasonable amount of time, retire, and be free where he may want to be.”
Vint added his commentary.
Well, the king does seem to be under a lot of stress…
“Being a part of the Royal Family, we handed him our blessings. That’s why we need to investigate the cause, take measures, and prevent the blessings from interacting strangely with each other. To do that, we’ll have to understand and grasp the exact contents of the blessing.”
Yes, I believe that’s right.
…However, I can’t be of much help. I don’t have a lot of knowledge about Annelier.
It’s a blessing that flows through Annelier’s bloodline, right?
“Then, what should I do… I haven’t been in contact with my parents since I collapsed. Should I contact them and ask them about it? About the blessing that’s in my bloodline?”
Although the Bustermans were considered to be Annelier’s family, I’ve yet to come in contact with any of Annelier’s relatives privately.
I wasn’t sure if Reinhardt-sama was blocking them from doing so or not.
Although Ella seemed to be in contact with them.
I’ve never tried to pursue that area. I felt that I would get in trouble if I ever met them… Since I was a fake Annelier.
The body belonged to their daughter, but the insides were different… I saw no chance of getting away with it.
I was only able to see their faces at an evening party one time, but they were so far away that our paths did not cross. And even if it did, I wouldn’t know what to say… Since the parent-child relationship between us was non-existent.
Annelier’s father was a raccoon-like older man whose hair color was similar to Annelier’s.
The person who seemed to be her mother was a beautiful blonde mature woman who resembled Annelier.
That was all I knew about them.
However, for Wernhardt’s sake… I wouldn’t mind getting in touch with them.
“I’ve already found a solution around that.”
…Reinhardt-sama, he’s really not someone that made any oversights.
“No one in Busterman, Annelier’s birthday, had been recognized for having such a blessing. At least no one before Annelier.”
Eh… Huh?
In other words…
“In other words, Annelier’s the first generation to receive such a blessing.”
Ehhh…!?
