Chapter Twenty-Nine: The Otome Game’s Footsteps can be Heard (Part V)
I asked the maids to return to their posts as we waited for Lucian-sensei and his companion while having tea with Reinhardt-sama and Vint.
So we’ll have to wait…
……
While having tea, we’ll have to chat, right? But what could the three of us possibly talk about?
—I felt like I’d get stuck with the slightest movement, or more precisely, I feel like I’m already suffocating…!
Lucian-sensei, help me!
Lucian-sensei, come quickly!
Perhaps it was because my strong wish had been heard, but Ella, who had left the room, soon returned.
“The guests are outside.”
She then announced the arrival of Lucian-sensei, the tentacle elf professor.
I’m glad.
It has been too long since I’ve had the chance to talk to Reinhardt-sama outside our bedroom, and although there are other people… Well, spirits too, but I can’t remember when the last time was.
I’ve no clue what kind of conversation we should have.
…Uhhh…Has my communication skills already deteriorated this much…?
Anyhow, Reinhardt-sama, Vint, and I were still sitting on the reception room sofa, waiting for them to come in.
“Bring them in.”
They were about to come in. My heart was pounding.
Right then, Lucian-sensei entered the room. He’s a half-elf who had the hallmarks of being a capture target in an otome game.
He had really long ears.
And the person behind his back was, well, I wonder if that’s his friend… She looked like someone who could be Lucian-sensei’s assistant or mad, but I wondered what kind of person she actually was.
“I see that Vint-sama is already here.”
“I was curious, so I asked him to show me first! Look, that’s her.”
When Vint pointed at me, both the eyes of Lucian-sensei and the person standing behind him turned to me.
“Ni… Nice to meet you. My name is Annelier.”
I nervously stood up as all the attention was on me, holding onto my skirt, remembering how to curtsy like how my etiquette teacher taught me.
…Ah, oh no, Lucian-sensei and Annelier shouldn’t have a good first meeting…
I realized my mistake immediately, but I couldn’t fix it anymore, so I just froze.
I think it’ll be the right decision if Reinhardt-sama decided to confine me again… If he lets me go as I please, I can only imagine the series of mistakes I’ll make.
“I’m glad to meet you finally. I’ve been hearing about you from Reinhardt-sama for a long time.”
I’m really curious about what he’s told you, sensei.
The memories I’ve accumulated with Reinhardt-sama came back to me at the speed of light… They were all very erotic, so what on earth had they been talking about…!?
There was no way I could’ve recovered after such a mistake, but thanks to Lucian-sensei, who responded with a calm expression, I was able to find my footing safely.
“So, how’s the situation?”
“There’s definitely some sort of divine protection, but it doesn’t seem to be a divine spirit or sacred beast. The otherworldly spirit you speak of is likely to be what it is, but I haven’t seen anything similar, so I couldn’t come to a conclusion,” said Vint as he was slumped in his chair.
Gōhō shota’s behavior is also as childish as his looks.
But I feel like he was saying something difficult to understand.
Maybe only his knowledge was different, but I think the insides are still that of a child’s.
“I see. There are no records of divine protections with otherworldly souls. Well… The summoning records themselves are missing, so it’s unlikely we’ll find records of their blessings.”
“If it weren’t for the divine protection being identifiable, there’s a possibility that this would have gone unnoticed. Some blessings disappear when the being giving them ceases to exist. Hence why not everything can be recorded.”
Oh… Reinhardt-sama is also participating in the conversation.
This, perhaps this was some kind of common-sense story in this world.
Was this something that was supposed to be a part of my studies…?
Was I so preoccupied with manners, geography, and history, that I wasn’t able to get that far in my studies?
“It is possible that they didn’t leave a record of it as it wasn’t a big deal… Or maybe they deliberately kept it a secret out of concern that just about anyone could artificially obtain blessings.”
I see… If anyone can summon a soul from another world and get a cheat when they enter a body, then it’s possible that they could aim for that.
“Sit down and take it easy for now.”
Since Vint was probably outside the realm of social customs, it was Reinhard-sama, the one who had the highest status among those who were present, was the one who suggested the guest, Lucian-sensei, to sit down.
The chairs were properly prepared.
Two couches and one chair.
Reinhardt-sama and I sat on one couch while Vint sat on a chair for one.
So, the other couch was for Lucian-sensei.
“Could I have my companion sit with me?”
“I don’t care. Is that person whose soul was also from another world?”
“That’s right. While working as a maid in my house, I also have her help with my research.”
Help with his research…
Help with his research!?
What are you making her do that helps with your tentacle elf research—!?
