8. Between the Two of Them
Rudolph had been busy lately. He’d been running around the kingdom and I hadn’t seen him in over a week.
I’d become quite acclimated to this kingdom, and while he was away, I started practicing swordsmanship with the female knights.
At Killua, I often sparred with my brother. Having lost my mother at an early age, I was attached to my brother. My brother was so admired by the knights that even I could recognize the faces of all of the knights of Killua.
For that reason, I was so happy that I was able to interact with the knights in this kingdom.
Holding my thin saber vertically, I traded blows with Arts many times. It was already the norm for the maids of the castle to flock to see the handsome face of Arts. At the same time, it was also the norm for the male knights who were practicing next door to gather around the maids.
I think I was able to get closer to the male knights quite a bit.
“Lady Diana is so skillful. If there’s anyone in this kingdom who can defeat Prince Rudolph, it might be Lady Diana.”
The Knight Captain, who watched my sparring with Arts, commented.
“Hehe,” I laughed, and Arts smiled wryly.
“I disagree. I don’t think His Highness Rudolph will ever point his sword at Lady Diana.”
She, who usually paid attention to Rudolph and me, shook her head.
“His Highness only has eyes for Lady Diana.”
Then, she gave an unnecessary report to the Knight Captain.
Oh, but don’t these two seem kind of close?
Arts and Knight Captain…
It doesn’t sound too bad…
As I thought so, the crowd surrounding us split into two.
A gold and blue flag with a white backdrop could be seen in the distance. It was none other than Prince Rudolph’s flag.
“Looks like they’ve returned…!”
When I spoke to Arts, she smiled.
“You act like a newlywed.”
Ugh. I was stuck for a moment, but I ran straight to Rudolph.
Rudolph, who returned with a group of knights, looked sunburned and a little thinner than when he left. Although his knight uniform was dusty, there were no noticeable stains, and above all, he seemed ecstatic.
The inspection must’ve been fruitful.
He’d just dismounted from his warhorse when I reached him.
“Diana!”
As soon as Rudolph saw me, his eyes widened as he smiled joyfully.
However, it was only for a moment, and he quickly looked around.
“Diana, when did you start doing that?”
He asked, pointing at my knight uniform.
“Hm? A little while after you went on your inspection?”
Rudolph stared at me, narrowing his jade eyes.
“Huh, I see… Oh, could you please come with me to the stables? I want to let him rest.”
After saying that, Rudolph pointed at his beloved horse, Kai.
Kai was a black horse with a majestic coat that had grown on me.
As a matter of course, I wasn’t afraid of taking care of Kai.
“I’ll refrain. If you want to talk, I’ll meet you in my room.”
Rudolph’s eyes narrowed even more. His gaze was ominous and foreboding.
“Diana… come.”
I knew it, he’s displeased about something!
Whenever he squinted at me, it meant that he was angry. Towards me.
If I went to the stables with him, I could see myself being ravaged in front of the horses.
In the first place, the tights for the female knight uniform were made of thin fabric and easy to remove…
Oh, is that it? He’s jealous because I was wearing this.
When I realized that, it was kind of funny.
I stretched out and put my hand on his shoulder, leaning in at once.
“Your Highness, I’ll prepare hot water for you, so please come quickly. I will be waiting in this attire.”
After whispering in his ear, I let go of his shoulder and smirked.
At times like this, he’d blush until his ears shut up.
As expected, he didn’t stop me as I sashayed away.
After receiving the report of his son’s return, the King of Freesia, who sported a thick gold mustache, smiled.
“Early on, I received the news. Looks like things are going according to plan.”
The wise king, who raised a small country to become a powerful nation in his lifetime, stared at the crown prince, his gaze full of wisdom. His voice captured the hearts of listeners with its deep, resonant tones, akin to his son’s.
“The Republic of Vitoa will probably declare war on us in the near future.”
Rudolph grinned as he answered his father.
While he inherited his graceful appearance from his mother, his way of speaking and thinking were all like his father’s.
It was the queen who gasped as she looked at her husband and son.
“When you’re concocting a devious scheme, can you please not act so obviou about it?”
Rudolph responded to his shocked mother, saying that he only cared about winning.
“We did it for the sake of greater good, so we have to win. Then Diana will no longer be the princess of an enemy country. Wouldn’t my mother also have less to worry about?”
The queen frowned when her son said that Diana would be in a better position if they warred against another country. They would need the support of the Kingdom of Killua to fight the Republic of Vitoa. If they won, the tide would probably change.
Furthermore, her son was sure to come home with the results he and his father envisioned, so much so that it seemed foolish to be worried.
…It was as if what she and Diana had painstakingly built up in the social circles was unnecessary.
She decided not to tell her son the good news.
“You truly don’t understand a woman’s heart.”
Rudolph shrugged his shoulders at the usual nagging.
“That’s just you, Mother. I know everything there is to know about Diana.”
“—Rudolph!! You really are not cute!”
Rudolph left the residence of the royal couple, entrusting his angry mother to his father.
As soon as Rudolph came to the room where I was waiting, he said, “Sorry for making you wait.” He loosened the collar of his knight uniform, letting out a breath. He took my hand as I sat on the couch and kissed it respectfully.
Then, as he hesitated to speak, I calmly asked him.
“Have you decided yet?”
He’d be leaving for war soon—I just didn’t know when it was.
“It hasn’t been decided yet. But it’ll happen in the near future.”
Rudolph gave me a stern look and hugged me. He smelled like dirt, sweat, and horse.
In this whole world, I loved him the most.
—Even if no one forgives me.
Diana’s knightly attire was poisonous to the eyes. Her slender waist, the upward curve of her breasts, and her perfectly sculpted derriere were all on full display.
As I kissed her deeply, I rested my hand on the dressing table, making her stuck out her seductive ass.
“I can’t believe someone saw this when I wasn’t around…”
She always complained, but seeing Diana unraveling right in front of the mirror was the best. Most of the buttons on her burgundy knight uniform were undone, exposing her alluring breasts.
She was penetrated by me from behind, and while moaning sweetly, she stared at me through the mirror.
As I teased the tips of her pale pink breasts with my fingers, her insides clenched.
I no longer had any leeway and started moving my hips faster.
The ecstasy of becoming one with my beloved, pursuing pleasure, filled me with endless satisfaction.
If I were to die at that moment, I wouldn’t regret a thing.
After Rudolph laughed, the king burst out laughing.
Staring into the air, the king couldn’t stop laughing, and the queen almost dropped the teapot she was brewing.
“Dear…?”
When she eyed him suspiciously, she noticed that her husband was seemingly in great joy.
“Haha, my bad, my bad… I just thought that the woman Rudolph chose was quite tough. Who’d have expected that she would start sword training after discovering that she was pregnant?”
“That’s true.” The queen agreed.
At first, the queen wanted to dissuade her, only to relent because Diana had a point.
“She’s doing her damnedest to protect her child. Who would doubt that she was pregnant? Her husband, the most important person in her life, is planning to leave her behind and go to war. After all, that’s all men ever talked about.”
“…My Wife, by that, are you also referring to me?”
“What do you think? Anyway, that child was just doing what she could. I feel bad for her because Rudolph always does whatever he pleases.”
The king’s wife was kind of nitpicky. It may also be a result of having trouble dealing with his precocious son from an early age.
Although his wife would criticize his son, saying that his talents were wasted on him, his son had exceeded his expectations. Thanks to Rudolph, Freesia, once a small principality, will soon become a powerful nation.
His son understood his father’s ambitions and demonstrated his abilities to the fullest. He was rational and quick-witted, so the king didn’t recall ever getting into trouble either as a parent or as a king.
His son was selfish only once.
Once, the king told Rudolph to cease his yearning for the princess of the Kingdom of Killua.
However, Rudolph refused to yield.
“—Why would you need to marry that princess?”
“She’s the vessel of a king. If we leave her in Killua, that country will soon turn its fangs against us.”
“That doesn’t mean you have to marry her. Just keep her under house arrest in the palace as a hostage.”
“Father, you’re only saying this because you have never seen her. She has tremendous support from the people. If she and I were to get married, the people of her annexed territory and the people of our country should be able to reconcile in no time at all. The Kingdom of Killua won’t try to fight against us in the future either.”
“Even if that’s the case, will she agree to marry you? Her brother lost an eye in the last battle, and her fiancé was killed by none other than you. She’ll just kill you in your sleep.”
“Father, isn’t it okay to have a little bit of anxiety about the future that Father and I envision? It’d be boring to live a life where all you do is conquer the entire continent.”
The king smiled bitterly as he remembered his son’s nonsense.
“He sure was confident…”
The queen pouted her lips as she heard it.
“Like I said, he was overcompensating for that girl. I wonder how much trouble he caused those around him because of his wasted talent and physical strength…”
“No,” The king shook his head.
“He could easily fulfill my ambition. But he also needs some reward.”
“You spoil him too much.” Said the queen, still dissatisfied. “Also, to call Diana a ‘reward,’ what an arrogant father and son.”
The king immediately apologized to his beloved wife.
“Let me rephrase it, rather than a reward, more like a purpose in life, I suppose.”
“…Hm, all right, I’ll overlook that.”
After enjoying the sight of me in a knight uniform, Rudolph took me to the bathroom.
“We’ve exercised a lot.”
Afterwards, he washed every part of me with his hands.
As he placed me on the bed, polished to a shine, and pressed his lips to the dampness of my thighs, Rudolph seemed to have noticed something.
“Diana, are you feeling unwell? Is there anything out of the ordinary?”
“Why do you think so?”
I asked lazily after he stopped licking me down there, and Rudolph answered casually.
“Because you taste different than usual. Of course, you’re delicious today too, but Diana isn’t in her prime, right?”
Let’s ignore how bizarre the fact that he knows about my menstrual intervals…
What was more terrifying was that he could gauge my physical condition by the taste of my bodily fluids.
“There’s nothing wrong with anything. If you’re worried, I’ll go see a doctor tomorrow.”
I was just wondering when to tell him. Maybe after the two of us had gotten dressed.
So, I begged him to continue. He wasn’t the only one I missed.
With that, he gladly resumed licking me and soon buried his hot rod inside me.
He tainted me by stirring up my insides and pumping at different speeds.
Then Rudolph, feeling satisfied for the umpteenth time that day, murmured, “I’m happy.”
Suddenly, he turned serious.
“Hey, Diana, if you have to kill me, will you kill me in bed, when I’m holding you?”
I realized then that he knew everything.
The face of my childhood friend and comrade flashed across my mind. It wasn’t love, but he took good care of me.
Apologizing inwardly to that man, I tightened around him and laughed.
“Fine by me. I’ll let you come inside me.”
There’s a gap between us that can’t be bridged—
—that’s why I want you to hug me tightly.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m very confused with that ending? I want to assume it’s the fact that Rudolph killed the fiancé that just came out of nowhere, but was Diana really considering killing Rudolph? Like, what do you mean “I realized he knew everything”??? Everything what??? Is there more???
I do like their relationship tho, NGL. They work well. He’s been obsessive and overbearing, she knows how to deal with that and also doesn’t let him steamroll over her. And I absolutely LOVE how they’re just enemies to lovers 😭🩷 this BPD mfer really did find someone who puts up with him LMAOO 🩷🩷
